What is Orelhen?

Heroic fantasy
on the edge of two realms.

Orelhen is a dark-fantasy world split by a river into two unyielding halves — a human kingdom in the west and orc hordes in the east. Between them lies a wilderness of forests, mountains, and ancient secrets.

  • Style of the worldGrim heroic fantasy — knights, rune magic, ancient gods, and wars that shaped the land.
  • Types of adventureOpen clashes across the plains, defending the bridge, expeditions into caves, or hunting bandits in the forest.
  • Print it yourselfDownload characters, buildings, and terrain, and print them at home. Every warband is one of a kind once you've painted it.
Factions

Two realms. One river between them.

Orelhen is split by an age-old conflict. Pick a side — or play both.

King of the humans
Western kingdom

The people of Aldengard

Disciplined knights and scholars of rune magic. They rely on tactics, formations, and a blend of strength and spellcraft — defenders of order against the chaos from the east.

  • Balanced units with strong support
  • Rune magic and healing
  • Fortresses and defensive formations
King of the orcs
Eastern hordes

The orcs of Gormaak

Raw strength and unbreakable fury. Orc chieftains lead their hordes from a fortress carved into rock. What they lack in tactics, they make up for in numbers and brutality.

  • High damage and toughness
  • Overwhelming numbers
  • Aggressive raids and frenzy
How Orelhen is played

From setting the table
to the final battle.

Step 01

Set up the map

Assemble the play area from hexagon tiles — plains, river, forest, and mountains, as the scenario calls for.

Step 02

Place your models

Set out your printed characters and units on the starting tiles for both sides.

Step 03

Read the rules

Go through the scenario and mission objectives. Every adventure has its own win conditions.

Step 04

Start spinning

Orelhen isn't played with dice, but with a roulette wheel. Spin it, and the result decides your attack.

Step 05

Battle the other side

Take turns, use the terrain and your characters' attacks, and cut down enemy units.

Step 06

Grow your warband

Winning earns you loot and experience. Strengthen your characters and head into the next adventure.

No dice. Orelhen uses a roulette wheel — the tension builds every round until the needle stops. And landing on CRIT unleashes a devastating special attack.

The world of Orelhen

Before you step into the story.

Why it's fun

Simple rules, a nerve-wracking roulette wheel, and battles where both tactics and luck matter. Easy to learn, hard to put down.

What it offers

Two factions, playable characters, a modular map, and expanding content. Every game looks and plays differently.

How to play

Build the map, set out your models, spin the roulette wheel, and lead your warband to victory. For 2 or more players, one evening per game.

History

Orelhen was once a single, unbroken continent. A great rift split it with a river into west and east — and with it began the age-old dispute over the fertile land between them.

Legends

Tales are told of heroes who once crossed the bridge and changed the fate of both realms. Their rune-blades are said to still lie hidden in the Shadow Hollow.

Gods

The humans worship the Warden of Dawn, giver of order and rune magic. The orcs call upon the Lord of Storms, who rewards strength and fury in battle.

Ancient wars

Three great wars scarred the land — burned forests, ruined fortresses, and battlegrounds where the armies of both sides now clash once again.

Frequently asked questions

Before you set out.

Do I need a 3D printer?
To print at home, yes. You download the models in STL format and print them on your own printer. If you don't have one, you can use a print service or someone in the community.
Can I play solo?
Orelhen is primarily designed for two sides, but thanks to its scenarios and open map, you can also play a solo mode where you control both warbands or face a pre-set challenge.
How many players can play?
The base game is tuned for 2 players (Humans versus Orcs). Bigger battles work with larger groups split into two camps — you scale unit count and map size to fit the scenario.
How long does one game take?
A typical game takes roughly 45–90 minutes depending on the scenario and number of units. Shorter skirmishes can be done in half an hour, while large campaigns may run longer.
Do I need the core Mythagate rules?
Orelhen is built on the shared Mythagate game system, but every rule you need comes in the package. You can start directly with Orelhen — no other title required.
Can I combine Orelhen with other worlds?
Yes. Every Mythagate world is connected by the gate of myths and a shared system. As more worlds are released, you'll be able to mix models and characters across them.
